Key Benefits

This insurance covers the risk of loss, damage or expense to goods during transportation by sea, air, rail or road from one place to another, anywhere in the world. Coverage is usually effected on a "per voyage" i.e. from the time the goods leave the premises of the seller till the time the goods finally arrived at the buyer's premises. This insurance can be bought by the buyer or the seller depending on the Contract of Sales.


What's Covered?

Forte’s Marine Cargo Insurance covers your cargo according to the Institute clauses used worldwide including Institute Cargo Clause A, Institute Cargo Clause B, and Institute Cargo Clause C for sea voyages and Institute Cargo Clause Air for air shipment.


You also can opt to extend your insurance for war and labor strike cover for sea shipment.

How to claim
  1. Immediately notify the Survey Agent mentioned in your policy. 
  2. Claim immediately on the Carriers, Port Authorities, or other bailees for any missing packages. 
  3. Do not give clean receipts where goods are in doubtful condition.
  4. When delivery is made by container, ensure that the container and its seals are examined immediately by their responsible official.
  5. If the container is delivered damaged or with seals broken or missing or with seals other than as stated in the shipping documents, clause the delivery receipt accordingly and retain all defective or irregular seals for subsequent identification.
  6. Apply immediately for survey by carriers or other bailees representative if any loss damage is apparent and claim on the carriers or other bailees for any actual loss or damage found at such survey.
  7. Give notice in writing to the carriers or other bailees within 3 days of delivery if the loss or damage was not apparent at the time of taking delivery.
